Meet Shasmeen, our Pick n Pay Hero Awards winner in the category ‘Environmental Awareness’. Shasmeen excelled in the Settlers and Eskom Science Expo with her butterfly project. She used recycled resources to create her project which aimed to create awareness around saving money and reducing waste. She is actively involved in beach and park clean-ups over weekends and during school holidays. Her contribution as a learner ensured that the school won a National Eco-Logic Award! How inspiring. She is also part of the POPS (People Opposing Poverty in Society) Foundation which makes and distributes food packages to less fortunate communities. Our hero also plays her part when the POPS Foundation hosts a Christmas party for children from orphanages in the area. Shasmeen you are a true leader when it comes to thinking of others as well as the environment – we are so proud of you! Well done.
